We got talking to Susan Bender Whitfield, Creative Director, Stylist and Contributing Editor for British Vogue about how she’s keeping sane during the lockdown.

WHERE ARE YOU WRITING THIS? 

Outside on a bench in my garden

 

WHERE ARE YOU DREAMING OF GOING AS SOON AS THE QUARANTINE ENDS?  

To visit my best friend's to hug and kiss them but I’m also thinking of walking to the end of my street to hug the first person that passes by.

 

WHAT QUOTE/ MANTRA / MINDFULNESS GO TO IS GETTING YOU THROUGH THIS? 

We’re all in this together and Third Ear app I listen to the sound meditations and gong baths every morning and night.

 

WHAT IS KEEPING YOU LAUGHING?

My husband and a WhatsApp group he organised with 6 other friends to share funny quotes, jokes, dark humour, memes and videos we found that make us laugh.

 

WHAT WON’T YOU EVER TAKE FOR GRANTED AGAIN POST QUARANTINE? 

My freedom of movement.

 

WHAT SMALL BUSINESSES ARE YOU LOVING AND WOULD LIKE TO GIVE A SHOUT TO?

WHAT IS KEEPING YOU ENTERTAINED - PRINT OR DIGITAL? 

Both at the moment, I’m reading/researching a lot more from print especially from my archive of vintage magazines and fashion/art/culture/architecture books.

 

WE ARE CALLED THE DECK – WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CARD GAME? 

Rummy, my husband and I play a few games every night, I’m killing it at the moment.

 

WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM SUIT LOOK LIKE? 

My suit would definitely be bespoke and a formal style suit, masculine, double breasted, peak labels, double vents at the back, nipped in at the waist to give a slight hourglass shape, loose peg trousers and a capri style trouser. I would have this made up in a myriad of colours and fabrics. 

 

WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING ON NETFLIX? 

Last thing I watched was the Locke and Key tv series and Fantastic Funghi documentary.

 

WHAT ARE YOU READING? 

May issue of British Vogue, A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James and The Future We Choose : Surviving the Climate Crisis by Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac

 

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR SKINCARE REGIME? THE PRODUCTS YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT? 

My skincare regime is very simple. I try to only use organic, clean and sustainable products on my face and body. I’m in love with Codex Beauty at the moment, every raw material, supplier, manufacturer and packaging materials are carefully selected and tested to meet their high standard of quality. I’m using their Bia facial oil, Bia eye gel cream and alternating between Bia exfoliating wash and the Bia balancing soap. I also love Tata Harper’s products. I use Clarifying cleanser, Beautifying face oil, Clarifying mask, Boosted contouring eye balm, Illuminating moisturiser.

 

YOUR GO TO VITAMINS? 

At the moment I’ve upped my vitamin intake, I take 1 tsp Vitamin C mixed with a spoon full of Manuka honey UMF 15+ and hot water, Neteru Botanical Immune support, Source Naturals Wellness formula, Renew Life Ultimate Flora women’s formula, Higher Nature Selenium and Folic Acid.

 

WHAT IS YOUR HOME WORKOUT OF CHOICE? 

I’ve always worked out from home and alternate my workouts so I do something different every day: yoga, weight training, martial arts, cycling and plyometrics.
